I love nothing more than when my clients become friends & when my friends become clients. But when I’m shooting a friend for the first time, there’s almost always that brief moment of uncertainty from them about whether or not I actually know what I’m doing… and when it’s your family? It’s even more interesting, haha! Meet my sister Shelley & her gorgeous family. They wanted the “real” client experience but I wasn’t sure if that necessarily meant I would get taken seriously. Especially by my teenage nieces & nephews! But as soon as we got to our location & my camera came out, I went from sister/aunt to photographer/director. It’s just what happens. And these guys were great. By the end, my nephew Ben may or may not have even said he wished we had time for more! I know, it’s crazy. We literally shot until the sun went down & it was a blast. It was so fun to work in a session with them while I was in town to shoot a wedding & I’m happy to be their Layton Utah family photographer for life!
And actually, I’m always happy to travel anywhere for any session… traveling is definitely one of my favorite things. I offer incentives for destination weddings & if you’re interested in a family session but don’t live in the Northwest, get a couple friends who need photos as well & I will offer a group deal! I’m always looking to explore new places.
Shelley had a couple great locations in mind for their session & I love how it all turned out. They are one of the coolest families I know & it was so cool to get to document this time in their lives. Alex, their oldest, graduated high school last week & will be headed off to college in the Fall. I can’t believe how fast that happened! I remember when he was the same age as my oldest… pretty sure it was yesterday. So that’s impossible.
Here are a few of my favorites from their session. Enjoy!
